Between 1996 and 2000, English-language covers of main theme songs appeared on Super Sentai soundtracks as a novelty, and in 2000 the same was done for the first Heisei Kamen Rider series, Kamen Rider Kuuga. This cover was performed by Masayuki Tanaka, the artist behind the original. I love Tokusatsu theme songs, and I find them infinitely more ambitious than theme songs of American productions. It's easy to assume that the Japanese language is simply built better suited to the poetic excesses of your favorite theme song, an assumption which covers such as these handily disprove. "As far as standing before love" may not make sense, but warts and all, I still prefer it to nine words repeated over and over or rhyming "fight" with "right."
